On Friday, December 23, 2022, the Chief Executive put pen to paper to make the bill officially part of the law. Thanks to the leadership of both Senators Reed and Inhofe, Representatives Adam Smith and Mike Rogers, and many others, H.R. 7776, the “James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023,” was passed. This act authorizes appropriations for the 2023 fiscal year, mainly for Department of Defense programs and military construction, Department of Energy national security programs, Intelligence programs, the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, Maritime Administration, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Intelligence Community, as well as a military pay raise and a variety of other related matters. The White House was the first to announce the signing of H.R. 7776 into law.
