I, as President of the United States with authority from the Constitution and American laws, order that the United States flag be lowered to half-mast at the White House and all government buildings, military posts, naval stations, and federal vessels in the District of Columbia and all throughout the United States and its territories and possessions between now and sunset on January 26, 2023 in honor of those affected by the tragic events that took place in Monterey Park, California on January 21, 2023. I hereby decree that the flag shall be flown at half-mast at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, military facilities, naval vessels, and stations abroad for the same length of time, as written on this twenty-second day of January in the year two thousand twenty-three, the two hundred and forty-seventh anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America.
