The most famous person to ever say “Hello” is now saying “Hiya” in her first tweet in nine months.
Adele took to Twitter on Monday (Oct. 4) to respond to a post from the social-media site’s official account, marking her first tweet since January.
“Hello literally everyone,” the Twitter account wrote on Tuesday, with Adele replying: “Hiya babes!”
Earlier Monday, Adele got fans buzzing when she updated her Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube pages with a teal blue background that matched mysterious billboards that popped up around the world last week. Last week, fans speculated that new Adele music was coming soon after billboards started popping up in random areas across the world featuring the number 30. Landmarks in New York, London and Paris also had the number 30 projected on the side of buildings, prompting fans to additionally speculate that the album is titled 30 to follow the format of her previous releases 25, 21 and 19.
Adele’s last album, 2015’s 25, logged 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, won album of the year and best pop vocal album at the 2017 Grammy Awards, and was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. The project’s blockbuster lead single “Hello” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 10 straight weeks atop the chart and won record and song of the year as well as best pop solo performance at the Grammys.
