According to data from 2020, breast cancer was the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the EU, taking up 13.3% of cases. On average, a woman in Europe has a 1 in 11 chance of developing breast cancer before the age of 74. A recent advancement in Indian start-up technology has made it possible to detect breast cancer in its early stages through the use of AI. Breast cancer is the most frequent type of cancer globally. Approximately one percent of all cases occur in male individuals, although the majority of diagnoses are found in women. Although tumors in the breast account for the majority of cancer fatalities among females, survival chances vary greatly across the world. In comparison to high-income countries where nine out of 10 patients have a successful outcome, India and South Africa reveal much lower numbers; there, approximately six out of ten and four out of ten patients succeed in the battle against cancer respectively. The World Health Organisation attributes the disparity to the availability of universal health coverage and greater numbers of public cancer centres in the former. Thus, researchers have devoted themselves to designing accessible and cost-effective tools to diagnose tumors more simply in low-income countries – one of those technologies, made in India, has already produced positive outcomes. A major query that those affected by the illness and their family members may ponder is the cause of their affliction.
