BTS will appear on a special upcoming episode of YouTube Originals’ weekly music series “Released” on Sept. 9 in advance of the premiere of “BTS ‘Permission to Dance’ MV (Shorts Challenge ver.).” The show, which will kick-off at 11:45 p.m. ET, will feature the K-pop supergroup sitting down to chat with Coldplay singer Chris Martin about what inspired the global #PermissiontoDance Challenge on YouTube Shorts.
According to a release, the special episode will also highlight a selection of shorts from the dance challenge created by BTS fans around the world, including efforts from the U.S., India, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and more.
The three-week #PermissionToDance challenge kicked off on July 23 after BTS asked fans to make 15-second YouTube Shorts videos incorporating the International Sign gestures for “Joy,” “Dance,” and “Peace” featured in the official “Permission” music video. The “Released” episode will air on the group’s official YT channel and be followed by the world premiere of “BTS ‘Permission to Dance’ MV (Shorts Challenge ver.)” at midnight ET.
In a recent interview on UK radio show The Official Big Top 40, Sir Elton John said he found it “very flattering” when he heard his name used in the opening verse of the band’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “Permission to Dance.” “It was so cool to be name-checked by someone like BTS,” he said. “It does blow my mind but it’s because I love new, young music. That’s what inspires me.”
