Chris Brown wants his music to be heard. The “Go Crazy” singer has released the verse that he claims Kanye West dropped from “New Again” off Donda.
Brown shared his contribution via a since-deleted Instagram post Saturday (Sept. 4) that he reportedly captioned, “The verse / chorus I mysteriously didn’t do!” Though the post has been removed, about a minute of the verse is still available on Breezy’s Instagram Stories. (The clip has also been captured by fans and shared on YouTube.)
“Is it too late for second chances/ Give my life a gang of blessings/ Trade my pain for all the pleasure/ Let your peace sustain my mental,” Brown croons over “New Again’s” insistent beat. He goes on to sing about “having group sex” and “swimming in my feelings.”
Though Brown is listed as one of the “New Again” writers, he apparently wasn’t too thrilled to learn his contribution had been dropped when Donda was surprise released on Aug. 29. He reportedly referred to West as a “whole hoe” in an Instagram Story hours after the album’s arrival. He later deleted that comment and shared another Story that simply said, “Nah he tweakin’.”
CB wasn’t the only artist miffed at the “Follow God” rapper for not including their work on Donda. Soulja Boy blasted West the day Donda – named after Kanye’s late mother — arrived, after a fan asked him via Twitter what he thought about the album. “idk how to feel, Kanye sent me that song ‘remote control’ and I don’t hear my version it… hmmm f— that n—a,” he responded.
He then shared what appeared to be a text conversation between the two men, and tweeted, “This n—a Kanye smh. Tell homie dont hit my phone no more.”
Billboard has reached out to West for comment regarding Brown’s verse.
