Alan Walker demands a lot from his laptops. In addition to being a world-famous DJ, music producer, and YouTuber, he’s an avid gamer. As the Norwegian-British superstar jets around the world, he needs a fast, reliable machine that also looks amazing. Walker has now lent his name to precisely that type of computer. In collaboration with the hardware manufacturer ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG), he helped to design a brand-new special edition of the Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop. The machine delivers the top-notch performance of ASUS ROG’s original Zephyrus G14 while offering some new incredible features dreamed up by Walker himself.
“We had a lot of brainstorming sessions with their creative team when designing the laptop,” says Walker, who officially partnered with ASUS ROG last summer as part of an initiative to bring gaming to a larger audience. “For instance, the first edition was actually a white laptop, but we later changed it to a matte black one to match my brand and aesthetic.”
In terms of color scheme, Walker didn’t stop at matte black. He and ASUS ROG arrived at a “dark aesthetic, with blue color accents and subtle shades of gray combined with ROG’s coding and cyberpunk theme.” Walker also opted to include an eye-catching AniMe Matrix LED display on the computer’s lid. This allows users to showcase scrolling text and animations.
But the look of the laptop is only part of the appeal. Walker is a serious gamer, and the special edition Zephyrus G14 gives him everything he needs to fully immerse himself in whatever he’s playing.
“In my opinion, the most important components in a gaming laptop are the graphic card, the processor, the RAM, and the storage,” Walker says. “The graphic card and processor produce a lot of heat, so it’s important that the laptop has an efficient heat management system. On the road, when I’m not able to bring separate accessories, I’m depending on the laptop having a good keyboard and trackpad. The G14 ticks all of these boxes.”
Walker also spends a lot of his time making music. He’s collaborated with the likes of A$AP Rocky and Sabrina Carpenter and racked up billions of streams with songs like 2015’s “Faded.” He says the Zephyrus G14 has the “design, portability, and most importantly the performance” necessary to help him create new tracks on the go.
The special edition Zephyrus G14 arrives at the perfect time, as many gamers are branching off into creative pursuits like crafting beats and creating YouTube videos.
“I have noticed that a lot of people that are into gaming are also enjoying technology and music production as well,” says Walker. “There is a great connection between these worlds. Both communities are very strong and inspire each other.”
