Drake kept us waiting, and waiting a bit more. And then, finally, the hip-hop star dropped his new album Certified Lover Boy, well past midnight and into the small hours of Friday morning.
Never mind. Drizzy’s fans are night owls. Many stayed up, jumped on, and shared their thoughts on social media.
Following its release, CLB and Lil Wayne, who teams up with Drake and Rick Ross on album track “You Only Live Twice,” were trending on social media.
One of the hottest talking points was the namecheck for #Ayesha on the track “Race My Mind,” with thousands pondering whether Drizzy had shouted-out Steph Curry’s wife. Maybe. The superstar NBA guard didn’t seem upset about it; he even gave Drake a personal congrats for the album release.
Certified Lover Boy is Drake’s sixth studio effort and the followup to 2018’s Scorpion, which blasted to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and on charts around the globe. Later, he was named by the IFPI as the world’s best-selling recording artist of 2018.
