In a new round of layoffs performed by the company, CNBC has learned that the workforce reduction is scheduled for this Friday, October 13th.
The CEO of Flexport, in an internal company memo, stated that employees will be informed Friday morning regarding their status in the upcoming job cuts. CEO Ryan Petersen wrote, ‘Today, I have a difficult decision to share: We will reduce the size of our global team by approximately 20%, with the process commencing tomorrow, Friday, October 13.’
Mr. Petersen claimed that these measures would not impact the customer experience. The job cuts are being undertaken as a means for the company to achieve ‘profitability,’ according to the CEO.
In the company memo, Mr. Petersen informed staff that they should work from home unless they are based in a warehouse. Those affected by the job cuts, both within and outside the US, will be provided with a severance package, as stated by the Flexport CEO in the company memo.
