Foo Fighters’ ’90s classic “Everlong” reaches Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Alternative Songs and Hot Hard Rock Songs charts for the first time, thanks to a viral live performance featuring 11-year-old guest drummer Nandi Bushell.
“Everlong” bows at No. 19 on the Sept. 11-dated Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. It also starts at No. 2 on Hot Hard Rock Songs and No. 17 on Hot Alternative Songs. (Hot Rock & Alternative Songs began in 2009, while the latter two lists launched in 2020. Older titles are eligible to appear on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, and its genre breakout charts, if ranking in the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart’s top 25 and are experiencing notable resurgences.)
In the Aug. 27-Sept. 2 tracking week, “Everlong” drew 2.6 million U.S. streams, up 4%, according to MRC Data. Additionally, it sold 1,000 downloads, a vault of 150%.
The viral rendition occurred The LA Forum. Bushell, a rising British drummer with more than 300,000 YouTube subscribers on her channel that’s focused mostly on her drum covers (including of Foo Fighters songs), first became acquainted with the band after she challenged the band’s Dave Grohl to a drum-off last year.
“Everlong” also returns at No. 5 on Hard Rock Digital Song Sales and No. 19 on both Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales and rises 21-20 on Hard Rock Streaming Songs.
“Everlong” was originally a hit for Foo Fighters in 1997, reaching No. 3 on Alternative Airplay and No. 4 on Mainstream Rock Airplay.
