Frank Ocean brought a green robotic baby with him to the 2021 Met Gala on Monday evening (Sept. 13).
The reclusive R&B star wore a black Dreamcore cap that kept his neon-green hair under wraps as well as a black Prada jacket, similar to the nylon gabardine anorak jacket he wore at the 2019 Met Gala. Ocean’s new independent American luxury brand Homer recently partnered with Prada on a collection.
“In America … I feel like we do kinda make, set some trends in general, especially in music,” he said about the evening’s theme of “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”
Fellow artist Billie Eilish is one of the co-chairs for the evening, alongside Timothée Chalamet, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka. The annual fashion event was postponed indefinitely in 2020, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Rihanna will host the event’s official afterparty, teaming with hospitality giant Richie Akiva to throw the Met Ball’s private post-gala bash. Rihanna shared the news on her Instagram Story, joking to her followers, “If you planning a MET Ball after party…don’t.”
