Mt. Gretna, PA – Gretna Music closes out its summer season on September 18th with a joint performance by the Dali Quartet and the Wister Quartet. Each quartet will play a Beethoven string quartet and then come together to perform Felix Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E-Flat Major, Op 20. The concert starts at 7:30 pm and will be held at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, 200 Pennsylvania Avenue, Mt. Gretna, PA 17064.
The Dali Quartet is comprised of cellist Jesus Morales Matos, violinist Domenic Salerni, violinist Carlos Rubios, and violist Adriana Linares. Trained by world-renowned artists, members of the Dali Quartet are from Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the US. They are sought after for masterclasses and professional development workshops for students and started their own festival that develops the performance skills of young musicians up through semi-professional level. They are devoted to audience development and to reaching communities of all kinds. The Dali Quartet it based out of Philadelphia and has joined the faculty at West Chester University as the Quartet in Residence.
The Wister Quartet has earned high praise from critics and audiences alike for its musicianship and memorable performances, including those with guest artists Yefim Bronfman, Alicia de Larrocha, Christoph Eschenbach, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Yo-Yo Ma. Also based out of Philadelphia, the Wister Quartet was formed in 1987 and named to honor Frances Anne Wister founder of the Volunteer Committees of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Before the Quartets take the stage, West Shore Christian Academy student, violinist Kellen Mikesell, will perform at 6:45 pm, as part of our First Listen series. First Listen provides local talented youth an opportunity to present mini-concerts before the mainstage concerts. These performances are free and open to the public.

Gretna Music is a Lebanon County summer performance series. They enrich lives by bringing world-class musicians/artists who otherwise may not travel to Central PA to the open-air, pavilion-style Mt. Gretna Playhouse, 200 Pennsylvania Avenue, Mt. Gretna, PA. Since their founding, over 250,000 people have attended over 1000 mainstage concerts by over 2000 artists. This includes 45 Grammy winners, countless Grammy nominees, six MacArthur fellows, and numerous winners of the world’s most distinguished musical awards. They’re the only summer-long chamber music series in central PA and are one of only two area organizations that focus on presenting jazz in a non-club setting. Wanting everyone to hear excellent music and with help from many loyal supporters, they are able to offer $5 tickets for ages 18 and under, $5 tickets for adults who bring a young person, half-price tickets for ages 19-30 and Pay-What-You-Will pricing to all.
