Justin Bieber will star in a new documentary following his New Year’s Eve concert titled Justin Bieber: Our World, which will debut on Amazon Prime in October.
The Grammy-winning pop superstar performed 21 decade-spanning hits, from his 2010 classic “Baby” to his “Holy,” “Anyone” and “Lonely” singles from his 2020 Billboard 200-topping album Changes, on the rooftop of the Beverly Hilton Hotel during the T-Mobile Presents New Year’s Eve Live With Justin Bieber special from Dec. 31, 2020. The documentary will follow the 27-year-old singer’s journey back into the live music space with his first full concert in three years after the COVID-19 pandemic upended the touring industry and forced him to postpone his Changes Tour. Approximately 240 fans attended the show in person, while the rest of the world was able to watch the livestream from the VenewLive platform.
Michael D. Ratner, who also helmed and executive produced his YouTube Originals docuseries Justin Bieber: Seasons and its follow-up Next Chapter, will direct Justin Bieber: Our World. The doc will premiere in more than 240 countries and territories on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 8.
“Performing live and connecting with my fans through music is deeply meaningful to me,” Bieber said in a statement. “Especially during the past year, being able to provide a service and share my gifts to bring some happiness to people during such a sad and scary time has meant the world to me. This film documents an intense and exciting time, preparing for a return to the stage during this season of real uncertainty. Coming together with my team, overcoming the obstacles, and delivering a special show, surrounded by friends and family; it’s all here.”
The film is being produced Ratner’s OBB Pictures, Bieber Time Films and Scooter Braun Films. Michael D. and Scott Ratner, Kfir Goldberg, and Andy Mininger are producing for OBB Pictures. Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, Allison Kaye, Scott Manson and Jennifer McDaniels are listed as executive producers via Scooter Braun Films, while Bieber himself earns the same credit. Jules Ferree, Nick DeMoura, Rory Kramer, Jillian Halterman and Rick Faigin will co-executive produce.
Justin Bieber: Our World will take an extensive behind-the-scenes look of Bieber and co.’s efforts to produce a show while following COVID health and safety protocols as well as he and wife Hailey’s personal life.
“Justin Bieber: Our World is a raw and unprecedented snapshot of Justin and those closest to him during a pivotal time in his life and career,” added Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “Filmmaker Michael D. Ratner has beautifully captured Justin’s spirit through rare moments both on and off stage. We are excited to invite Bieber fans around the world to experience what is a truly intimate portrayal of one of the world’s most iconic musicians.”
Bieber is repped by CAA, which negotiated the deal.
