You see, there’s more beneath the surface than meets the eye. At Q Hubo News, our identity stretches far beyond that of a mere newspaper or marketing agency. In truth, we operate multiple e-commerce ventures and have dabbled in real estate investments in the past (a venture we plan to revisit in the next 12–18 months!).
My personal ambition always gravitated towards acquiring a smaller business, driven by the desire to understand the acquisition process. The journey has been enlightening, and I’m grateful for the invaluable lessons I’ve gained.
Let me share a couple of these lessons with you — lessons that might resonate with your own life and career:
Lesson 1: Buying a business isn’t a glamorous shortcut to instant profitability. Initially, I harbored the misconception that purchasing a business would lead to immediate financial gains. While we’ve seen success in some cases, we’re still working towards breaking even in others. The key takeaway here is to approach your decisions with a thorough understanding of the steps involved and be prepared for unforeseen challenges.
Lesson 2: Surprises are an inevitability. Whether in business acquisition or embarking on a new career, surprises are part of the journey. These surprises can range from minor hiccups to major hurdles. It’s crucial to acknowledge and prepare for the unexpected.
Lesson 3: Life offers perpetual learning opportunities. My experiences in acquiring online businesses have taught me more than any book or course ever could. Don’t get me wrong; I still advocate reading and learning through courses. However, there’s no substitute for hands-on experience and learning from your own mistakes. Practice often outweighs theory.
In essence, life is a continuous stream of lessons, each shaped by our unique experiences. If you find value in my newsletter, I encourage you to share it with a friend or colleague who might appreciate these lessons.
