Nicky Jam captures his third straight top 10 effort as Infinity debuts at No. 9 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated Sept. 11.
The set, released via La Industria/Sony Music Latin on Aug. 27, arrives with 5,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 2, according to MRC Data. Most of Infinity’s opening sum stems from streaming data.
Infinity is a follow-up to Nicky Jam’s No. 3-peaking album Intimo (November 2019). Previously, he scored a first albums career No. 1 with Fenix, which took over Top Latin Albums for eight weeks after its launch at the summit in February 2017.
Speaking of Fenix, it holds firmly on the overall Latin albums chart at No. 46 in its 229-week run, the second-most for a Latin rhythmic artist, following Daddy Yankee’s Barrio Fino (244 weeks through the June 5-dated tally). Among all acts, however, Romeo Santos’s 11-week ruler Formula: Vol. 2, a continuous top 25 ranking title, endures; currently at No. 21 in its 336th week.
The Top Latin Albums chart ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Infinity, Nicky Jam’s sixth studio album, registered a bit over 4,000 SEA units; that equates to 6.2 million on-demand streams for the album’s tracks.
Five tracks preceded the 15-track Infinity on Hot Latin Songs, all collaborative titles, except for one: “Polvo,” with Myke Towers (No. 15 peak, June 2020); “Fan De Tus Fotos,” with Romeo Santos (No. 11 high, Feb. 27-dated list); “Pikete,” with El Alfa (No. 32, June 12-dated chart); “Miami” (No. 33 debut and peak on the Aug. 14-dated tally); and “Magnum,” his first collaborative effort with Jhay Cortez, which bows at No. 41 on the current chart. Hot Latin Songs blends airplay, streams, and digital sales.
Infinity concurrently starts at No. 7 on Latin Rhythm Albums. It’s Nicky Jam’s sixth straight top 10 there.
