Building a website is just the first step of the process.
Many new business owners or people needing a website think that there are no other costs associated with this.
I hate to break it to you, but there are fixed costs associated with building a website.
Like web hosting, for example.
Web hosting is what you pay to play, essentially.
It is the cost to allow you to exist on the internet, which you want to believe me when I tell you that you want to exist on the internet.
Now, how much does it cost to build a website and keep it online?
The answer, like a lawyer would say, is that it depends.
It depends on how many pages, what functionalities it will have, etc.
It does not have to be crazy expensive to build a website, but it will cost you a certain amount.
My best advice is to seek various quotes and decide on the best.
You do not need to spend thousands of dollars for a website unless you are making a custom-made website from scratch because you are launching new online software.
Do not fall for web agencies that quote you for a very expensive website when, at the end of the day, they do not have a way of justifying why they charge so much money in the first place.
I got my website, now what?
You got your new website for a decent price, but now you want to know how to take advantage of it.
My suggestion is that you identify the best way to bring local traffic to your website if you are a local business.
Find what online platforms you can use to advertise your website and bring local community members to check out what you have going on.
My recommendation for local businesses is to advertise their website 20 to 30 miles from where their business is located so that there is enough reach for you to be seen by potential local customers.
You can also connect your website to your Google Business Profile so that when your customers find you, they can see that you have an online presence.
Maybe there are questions you can answer from your website that can make it easier for your clients to work with you.
I also suggest to clients to find ways to collect emails from their clients. If you have a website, it is a great way to build an email list that can turn into returning customers.
So make sure you have a lead magnet that can incentivize people to sign up for your newsletter.
For example, you may have noticed that we have a pop-up on our website where we ask our clients to provide their email in exchange for a free e-book about marketing; you should do something like that as well!
