Philadelphia, Pa- President Pro Tempore, State Senator Jake Corman is asking Speaker Cutler, Leader Benninghoff and Chairman Kauffman to consider the initiation of impeachment procedures of the Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner. Rep Corman says that on January 18th, 2022 he submitted a letter asking for impeachment proceedings to begin due to alleged negligence to prosecute violent crimes in the city of Philadelphia. “After the City suffered a record 562 of homicides in 2021, Philadelphia remains on pace to match that number in 2022 with 64 homicides through February 14. In addition, there were a record number of carjackings in the city through February 2 with 140 incidents.” said Rep Corman in the press release.
Rep Corman alleged that DA Krasner “has done nothing” and that he believes it is the duty of PA congress to take matters in their own hands. The city of Philadelphia has been facing an increasing number of homicides for the past two years and carjackings have also been increasing but without a reasonable explanation. Rep Corman said that the only way to fix this problem is by taking DA Larry Krasner off of his position in order to bring someone who will enforce the laws of the commonwealth.
DA Krasner has not provided a direct response to the claims by Rep Corman, instead the DA Spokesperson said that he thinks the political attack is a “stunt” according to a Philadelphia inquirer Report.
