Lebanon, Pa- In recent days a video was taken where an unknown person shouted the N-word during a Cedar Crest and J.P. McCaskey basketball game. The video, placed on twitter has gained attention from both the school and the media. The official twitter account for Cedar Crest High School commented on the video “First I would like to apologize to the @McCaskeyBball basketball program and their athletes who had to endure this disgusting behavior. These players have never shown anything but the upmost class and character whenever we have played them….I would also like to apologize to any other athlete who experienced this same type of behavior in our gym. This language and behavior is not acceptable ever, and will never be condoned by our program….It is my hope that we are able to identify the person(s) responsible for this so they will never be allowed to step foot in our gym again.” The video shared by Jeremy Blevins is evident that someone said the N-word but the school officials were not aware of the incident until after the fact . Cedar Crest is currently investigating the incident is looking for people who may know the person responsible for using the racial slur.
@CCHS_Hoops @CCHSFalcons @CLSD_Schools @phuggsports anyone have anything to say about what your ADULT fans are yelling (clear as day)at @McCaskeyBball players?!? This isn’t an isolated incident either, other LL players have heard similar this year, just not caught on video 🔈up pic.twitter.com/GSVUV8fzLx

Cedar Crest Athletics shared the message in their Twitter account “CCHS Athletics is aware of an incident in which a spectator issued a racial slur toward an athlete at the McCaskey game. At no time is this behavior acceptable at Cedar Crest and we are investigating the incident. If you can help us identify this person, call 717-272-2033 x5958″ According to the Pennlive report, the director of Cedar Crest Athletic said that he wishes someone would have said something at the time of the incident and then do something about it in the moment.
The school is hoping to identify people who were near the person who shouted the word so that they can help identify the unknown actor and then have the school administration and police officers deal with this issue through the proper legal channels.
