President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and President Vo Van Thuong had an official meeting and state luncheon at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam. President Biden and President Thuong discussed business, economic ties, and Vietnam’s aspirations to become an upper income country by 2045. They discussed the cooperation issues in technology cooperation and Vietnam’s clean energy transition plan under the new U.S. – Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They also spoke about the ongoing work in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) negotiations and the importance of attaining positive outcomes in time for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting in November. President Biden looks forward to seeing President Thuong again when he hosts APEC in San Francisco later this year.
