Following the November 13, 2022 Phnom Penh Summit of the US – Japan – Republic of Korea Trilateral Partnership for the Indo-Pacific led by Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan, President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea (ROK), and President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. of the United States, Cabinet Councillor Yasuo Takamura from the National Security Secretariat of Japan, Secretary to the President for Economic Security Yunjong Wang of the ROK, and Senior Directors Tarun Chhabra and Nora Todd from the U.S. National Security Council convened the inaugural meeting of the U.S.-Japan-ROK Economic Security Dialogue in Honolulu, Hawaii. To deepen engagement on economic security and promote the common interests of the three countries, the trilateral discussed ways to collaborate on critical and emerging technologies, including in quantum and space technologies; increase supply chain resilience, including in semiconductors, batteries, and critical minerals; coordinate on measures to protect sensitive technologies; and operationalize Data Free Flow with Trust.
