Dr. Phil Gordon, National Security Advisor to the Vice President, convened a round of strategizing today that consisted of heads of the Partnership for Central America, CEOs from corporations who answered the Vice President’s request to get involved with Northern Central America, and a number of senior U.S. government officers. The Vice President’s Call to Action initiative has already brought in over $3.2 billion, and the participants discussed ways to further this progress as part of their collective partnership. At the meeting, the group deliberated on the necessary steps that should be taken to put the Call to Action into practice. These steps aim to enhance sound governance, thwart corruption, and meet labor needs that could be solved with the bigger U.S. approach to manage streams of migration. They delved into approaches that the U.S. government might utilize to further back private company investments in answer to the Call to Action.
