LEBANON PA- Firefighters respond to a sudden pipe burst on the corner of Cumberland and 9th Street which has flooded a three-story apartment building and office space. According to the dispatch report, at approximately 7:30 p.m. a building, located at 11th North 9th St, began to flood, causing damage to the Making a Difference office building along with the apartments above and aside of it. The exact cause of the pipe burst has yet to be confirmed, however piping on all three levels of the building began to spew water causing damage throughout the property.
Upon arriving to the scene, firefighters shut off the pipes and briefly cut power to the building as they worked to clean up the mess caused by flooding. After cutting off power to the building, firefighters used waterproof vacuums powered remotely to remove the excess water. Officials were able to have the situation under control within approximately 1.5 hours. Officials said that a further inspection of the building will need to be completed at a later date. The total damage to the building is still unclear. Damage to the Making a Difference office currently appears to be minimal, however a more thorough cleaning will need to be done.
