SESAC Performing Rights announced an executive shake-up today (Sept. 8), as president and COO Kelli Turner departs the company and several executives are promoted.
Based in Nashville, Turner has spent the past seven years at SESAC. She joined in 2014 as executive vp, operations, corporate development, and was promoted to president and COO in 2018. She is leaving SESAC to pursue an opportunity outside of the music industry, according to a press release from the company.
“Kelli and I joined SESAC at the same time, and I want to say how grateful I am to her for all that she has done to help shape and build SESAC over the past seven years,” SESAC chairman/CEO John Josephson said in a statement. “Her departure will of course be a loss for SESAC, but it’s a tribute to her leadership and hard work that we feel confident about the future. She has helped us build a strong, seasoned management team, and together we will continue on the successful path that SESAC has followed for many years.”
Turner will be succeeded by Scott Jungmichel, who is promoted from his previous role as executive vp, royalty distribution and research services and CIO. He’ll continue to be based in Nashville.
Sam Kling has been appointed chief creative officer, based in Los Angeles, moving up from senior vp, creative operations.
Finally, Shannan Hatch is returning to the role of vp, creative services, a position she previously occupied until September 2019. In the time since, she has served as president of talent management, business development and music publishing firm Fourward Music, a role she left in April. She will lead SESAC’s Nashville-based creative services team in supporting the company’s songwriters and publishers.
