Sharon Zook, a community leader and businesswoman, has announced her candidacy for County Commissioner of Lebanon County. Zook is a long-time resident of the county, having grown up in a plain Mennonite home adjacent to her grandparents’ farm along the Snitz Creek. She has been recognized for her honesty, integrity, ingenuity, and attention to detail.
Zook’s academic accomplishments include earning an Associate’s degree in Social Science from HAAC, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lebanon Valley College, and a Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from Penn State University. She currently designs and administers manufacturing at Snitz Creek Cabinet Shop, a third-generation family business that has attracted millions of dollars in new business from homeowners, corporations, designers, and contractors locally, nationally, and internationally.
Zook’s passion for serving her community is evident in her many accomplishments. She combined her business experience with her academic background in research, analysis, and behavioural science to execute the design, funding, and construction of the South Sixth Street Playground in the City of Lebanon, which reopened in 2010. She also developed a fully funded summer day camp program that focuses on school readiness, physical exercise, and healthy nutrition for kids, which served over 2000 meals last year. During the pandemic, she was instrumental in coordinating the manufacturing of intubation boxes for hospitals across central PA and Philadelphia.
In addition to her business and community service, Zook has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Jefferson Award for Public Service, the Robert S. Davidson Research Award, National Honor Society, the Soroptimist International Women’s Opportunity Award, the Lebanon County Commission for Women’s Hall of Fame, and multiple Lebanon County Builders Association Kitchen Remodelling Awards.
Zook’s candidacy for County Commissioner of Lebanon County is based on her commitment to fiscal responsibility for taxpayer’s dollars, economic growth, delivering improved social and rehabilitative services to the elderly, children and youth, and vulnerable populations, addressing mental health, maintaining a safe and secure environment, and improving the quality of life for all residents.
In summary, Sharon Zook’s life experiences and proven track record in stewardship and servant leadership make her uniquely qualified to serve as the next County Commissioner in Lebanon County.
