York, PA – (August 2, 2022) – The Spanish-American Multicultural Resource Center announces changes in leadership. Mrs. Yahaira Alvarado is the centers new Executive Director replacing Mr. Lou Rivera. Mrs. Alvarado’s long history of servant leadership in our community and her vision of the center as a connector hub for the underserved will help guide her strategic vision for future collaboration with community stakeholders.
The organization’s mission is to actively promote and advocate for the inclusion, development, empowerment, acculturation, and advancement in support and recognition of the Latinx, Hispanic, multicultural, and ethnic communities through partnerships and resources while preserving their cultural identity in York City, York County and Central PA.
The SAMRC serves as a “connector hub” to connect those who are in need, with food, healthcare, housing, legal and other supportive resources. Often, the most vulnerable population such as the poor, elderly, homeless, and undocumented, suffer due to cultural and language barriers. We look forward to continuing the unity and the urgency to provide education, literacy, employment opportunities, among other resources, to our Hispanic, Latinx, and other Ethnic groups in our community.
“In addition, we will add new board members to broaden the skills set available to advise and implement the boards’ strategy alongside our new director Mrs. Alvarado”, says Dr. Serrano, Chairman of the Board, at the SAMRC.
This year we will continue the traditional Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations by partnering with Etcetera, LLC, an event planning and marketing company, in bringing you the “Latin Music Fest” to The Historic Penn Park on 100 W College Ave., York, PA on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
We will continue to expand our collaboration and honor partnerships with community stakeholders in areas of food insecurity, social determinants of health, housing, immigration, workforce development and health insurance access.
