Lebanon, PA- Welcome to this new column on Integrative Health Care. You may also have heard of it by other names, such as Complementary and Integrative Medicine (CAM) or Holistic Health. This has been my passion for many years, even though I worked in the nursing field in traditional medicine all my life. Let me start by explaining what Complementary and Alternative Medicine is. Complementary Health Techniques (not the alternative ones) are used along with your traditional medical care, which is often medication, surgery, or physical therapy.

The Harrisburg legislature is broken! We, the taxpayers, pay our legislators $21 Million in salary alone, not including vacation pay, health insurance, committee pay, per diems, office expenses and retirement and get almost nothing in the way of legislative return. In total, we are spending approximately $50 Million dollars annually for a handful of bills that are passed into law.
Community of Lebanon Association (CLA): Who are they, what do they do, and how can you join in their efforts?
While Lebanon City is host to many non-profit organizations working to make the community a better place, the Community of Lebanon Association (CLA) has been spearheading beloved initiatives such as the downtown flowerpots, car show, music fest, food truck palooza, carriage rides, tree lighting ceremony and holiday parade for decades.
An economic development agency says a 2021 survey during the COVID-19 pandemic showed 40% of businesses that responded had no emergency plan or online shopping websites to help them stay afloat.

It is no secret that our community needs more nurses! According to The Lebanon County Career and Technology Center’s Adult Education Program Coordinator, Julia Ansel, the CTC has updated offerings for nursing students in the community looking to increase their skills and earning potential.
Over the past four years, the Penn State College of Medicine REACH project has been working in the Lebanon and Berks community. With the grant funding, the program builds strong partnerships, makes connections, guides and supports programs and assists with projects across both counties. We are proud to work in your community and want to share more about the REACH project.
