Taking over the weekend sounds like we have lost control of it, right? Well, you are not wrong because we have indeed lost control of the weekend. We take this concept for granted when others in the past lost their lives asking goverment authorities to make the weekends off the norm.
In a podcast I recently heard, the interviewee shared some practical tips about how we can gain control of the weekend and why we should do so. In the advent of technology, we have gone from focusing on the outside world to focusing in what Mark Zuckerberg calls ‘The Metaverse” which for purposes of this blog we will use to refer to the internet.
Try to disconnect from technology said the interviewee when sharing about what could be done to take the weekend back. Technology has become a central part of our lives and we haven’t been able to learn how to seperate from it.
Leaving technology and focusing on the relationships that matter is central to having a weekend experience that we can enjoy and call relaxing.
Another wisdom nugget shared was on finding ways to minimize the amout of chores we do during the weeknd given that we all can agree, chores are not a way to relax for most people.
Lastly she shared how we use the weekend to indulge in the never ending spirit of consumerism which at the end entails more activities that are actually not relaxing.
Taking the weekend for granted is a horrible tragedy given that we are a few of most privileged people in the world that have been able to enjoy two days where we can rest and enjoy the fruits of our labor.
