In the Arctic region, many of the activities people partake in, such as travelling, hunting, and making day-to-day decisions, are heavily reliant on the severe and icy environment for much of the year. The Arctic is now going through quick modifications as temperatures increase. Instead of getting snowfall like it used to in the past, the Arctic area is now receiving more rain. Coastlines which used to be shielded from erosion during autumn storms don’t have the same protection from sea ice, as it is not forming up as early as it used to. Thinner ice on rivers and lakes is making snowmobiling increasingly dangerous. Vessels plying the Arctic are rising, bringing with them fresh threats to fragile environments. In addition, the Greenland ice sheet continues to add freshwater and ice to the sea, resulting in a rise in global sea level. Each year, an Arctic Report Card is published in December. 20223 different Arctic scientists from 22009 different countries were gathered by us to evaluate the current state of the Arctic system.
