LEBANON, Pa. — The Lebanon City Council met Monday to review a virtually empty agenda before the Mayor presented a free version of the State of the City Address.
During the Pre-council meeting on Thursday, Mayor Sherry Capello gave a general update on projects to the City Council.
The Mayor’s update included:
The City had a Pre-Construction meeting for the streetscape project with the engineers (Steckbeck Engineering) and the contractor. Mayor Capello said that this project is estimated to cost $4.4 Million and that the project is slated to start in May.
Mayor Capello said that the City has also awarded the Lehman Street paving bid to New Enterprise.
The City will also be awarding bids for upcoming street paving on 12th Street between Cumberland north to the bridge, which is north of gilbert street, Maple Street from 9th Street east to the city line, 7th Street line south to Elm Street, Washington Street between 11th and 12th Streets, Oak Street from 12th Street west to the city line, 16th Street from Federal street South to oak, Chestnut street between 16th Street to the Trico Building, the parking lanes on Oak and South 8th Street at the court house, and south Lincoln Ave between walnut and Cumberland Street. Additionally, the City is looking to add an addendum for 11th Street between Washington and Oak.
The Ladder truck for the Rescue Fire company is out on bid. The City anticipates that the bid will cost $1.34 million (with the City contributing 50% of the cost).
The 4th Street stormwater project is out on bid.
The Chestnut Street Community Center has put out its own bid for the installation of an elevator (The City had previously awarded them $200,000 for this initiative).
The Liberty Street Project has been pushed back slightly due to street scaping; however, the City is still planning to start this year.
The City is also in the process of reviewing the draft for the updated Coleman Memorial Master Site Plan. This plan is an updated version of the 2011 plan with schematics for potential additional improvements. The Mayor will plan to present an update on this plan during the May Council Meeting.

With 25% of the reported year complete, the City has raised 25% of expected revenue and has spent 17% of expected expenditures.
