LEBANON, Pa.— The Lebanon Council met Monday to present a Certificate of Recognition to Sandra Meluskey for her service to the City of Lebanon.
Mayor Sherry Capello said that Meluskey, a career nurse, has served the City of Lebanon in a variety of ways for the last 36 years.
Mayor Capello said that Meluskey began her service to the city in 1985 when she joined the Planning Commission, a post which she held until January 2000; In the Fall of 1999 she was elected to the Lebanon City Council and serve in the position for two terms; and in 2009 she was appointed to the Lebanon City Board of Health which was a position she held for 13 years before retiring.
In other business:
The Mayor reported that the city is 8% complete with the 2023 budget year, with 4% of expected revenue collected and 4% of expected spending completed.
Former Lebanon City Mayor Jackie Parker was appointed by Mayor Capello as the city Planning Commission’s delegate on the Lebanon Housing Authority. Mayor Capello said that the Housing Authority board is a seven-member body that requires specific representation from individuals in various housing related sectors. Parker was appointed to the board after Joseph Klein resigned from the Planning Commission (and as their delegate on the Housing Authority Board), due to moving outside of the city.
Additionally, Mayor Capello announced that the City of Lebanon Government now has a new website. She noted that the website will continue to be updated in the coming days and that some information has not yet been transferred.
Mayor Capello also said that the city is completing a housing study of the city area and will publish its findings once completed.
The Mayor’s State of the City Address will take place on March 29th between 11:30am-1:00pm at the Hebron Church.
The next pre-city council meeting will occur on March 23rd at 4:45pm in the Francis Dixon City Council Chamber located in City Hall, and City Council meeting will be on March 27th, at 6:30pm in the same location.
