The Script is set to write another chapter to their impressive U.K. chart history.
The Irish alternative rock trio leads the midweek chart with their career retrospective, Tales From The Script – Greatest Hits (Sony Music CG).
If it stays on track, the collection will give the act their sixth U.K. leader, after The Script (from 2008), Science & Faith (2010), No Sound Without Silence (2014), Freedom Child (2017) and Sunsets & Full Moons (2019).
Coming in at No. 2 on the Official Chart Update is The Specials’ Protest Songs 1924-2012 (Island), for what should give the legendary Coventry ska outfit a fifth U.K. Top 10 album. The Specials’ last appearance on the chart was a No. 1 for their 2019 comeback LP, Encore.
Queen drummer Roger Taylor beats a path to No. 3 with Outsider (EMI), which is set to become his first solo Top 10 title.
Meanwhile, the original soundtrack for latest instalment in the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die (Decca), recorded by German composer Hans Zimmer, is at No. 4, while Taylor Swift’s former leader Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (via EMI) rebounds to No. 5 following its release on vinyl.
Also aiming for a Top 10 berth is Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s collaborative album Love For Sale (Interscope), new at No. 6; while Sugababes’ 20th anniversary rerelease of their debut One Touch (London Music Stream) blasts in at No. 7; and prog-rock veterans Yes open at No. 8 on the chart blast with The Quest (Century Media), their 22nd studio album.
Over in the U.K.’s singles chart race, Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” (Asylum) continues to lead the way, ahead of Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart” (Pnau Remix) (via EMI). “Shivers” is chasing a fourth consecutive week at No. 1.
